Couple nice hike on a single digit chilly December morning to these New Hampshire 2000 Footers.
We first hit North Pack Monadnock Mountain. Not knowing what the trail conditions where we put on our micro spikes and strapped our snowshoes onto our backpacks. Trails where showing patches of ice, very hardpacked snow and bare ground here and there. Some frozen post holing in spots along the way, but easterly avoidable. Snow shoes went for the ride to the summit and back to the truck.
We then jumped in our car and drove the 15 minutes or so over to the next hike, Holt Peak. Again, we strapped on the micro spikes but left the snowshoes in the truck. Trail conditions here where very similar although the sun seamed to loosen up some of that had packed snow/ ice.
Both hike had some nice views along the way and it was nice to check off a couple more NH 2000 footers as we work to complete the New Hampshire 500 Highest peaks.
