Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Copple Crown Mountain, NH
Trails
Trails: Copple Crown Mountain Trail, East Peak Spur
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, October 14, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Class VI extension of Moose Mountain Rd, which leads to the trailhead, is rough in spots and has several pond-size puddles of water covering the roadway. 4wd/high clearance is best, but I suppose anything else could make it with careful driving.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easily rock hopped.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The first half of the trail, which follows dirt roads, is easy to follow but not really marked or blazed. The second half, which follows a more standard footpath, is blazed well but can be hard to follow, especially with the current leaf cover. Also, a line of about seven or so ATVs passed me on the way down, so the lower half of trail does appear to have somewhat heavy use by them.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw about as many dogs as I did people- this looks to be a popular dog hike. Water not an issue right now with the wet trail conditions.

Comments
Comments: Had been putting this hike off for far too long, so I decided to do it on a whim. Excellent views from the view ledge on the east peak, and a more restricted view toward the west from the main peak, but other than that, this was kind of a ho-hum hike. Fortunately, the fall foliage made up for it.
