I have always heard about this day hike but.....never got a chance to do it. Other than limited views and some slick rock on the ledges aka do this in better weather.....it was a great hike. A bad day in the mountains is still better than a good day at work! ; ) We did get some limited views from the first viewpoint near Mt Welch. On the summit of Dickey it was raining at a good clip and socked in with fog. The rain went from drizzle to downpour when we got back into the trees. The jack pine on this hike are really cool! These type of pine(s) are quite rare in the White and in New England. I heard a bunch of Swainson's Thrush also. I think their song is so beautiful to listen to while you hike. |
