| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
At the end of Wood Road off Bickford Road in Gilford. Please heed the no parking signs, as there have been issues with hikers parking where they were not supposed to be. There is a limit of five cars in the lot. When we arrived, another vehicle was in the lot with an occupant, and it looked like they had been there overnight. AFAIK, this is not allowed. |

Holy hazy, hot and humid! We definitely sweated this one out. Bone dry trail all around, we could use the rain! EGT is a very pleasant and interesting trail, with lots of ledgy walking in its upper half. We climbed the fire tower for the views, which are slowly getting less and less due to tree growth. From just below the summit, we dropped down the steep herd path to the plane crash. The path is much better defined since my last visit. We thought about doing a loop out, but with the heat, we just came back down the same way. No thunderstorms but plenty of heavy, thick air. |
