Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Welch Mountain, Dickey Mountain, NH
Trails
Trails: Welch-Dickey Loop Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 3, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked in the upper (main) lot without a problem at 9:30am Sunday. By the time we returned around 1:30 both lots were nearly full, but with the coming/going of people finishing their hikes, I don't think it would have been a problem to arrive later in the day.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: small rock hop at beginning of the loop (CCW) was a non-issue
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns (some large), mostly on the stretch between Dickey and trailhead (i.e. decent if going CCW). All were easily navigated.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw lots of dogs, all happy.
Bugs
Bugs: Many. Black flies and mosquitos were definitely working this day, and eventually we had to break out the 30% DEET which did the trick.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Picked up various bits of other people's trash.

Comments
Comments: Couldn't have picked a better day for Welch-Dickey. We did the loop CCW, as did many others. Probably encountered upwards of 100 people, not surprisingly. Trail was in good condition, no problems.
