| Comments: |
Hodgepodge of conditions this afternoon. Welch side of the trail was muddy with small patches of non-slippery ice on the portion along the brook. Some wet ledges above there, but minimal snow or ice to deal with until the summit.
Plenty of snow and soft ice between the peaks, including on some of the steeps. Bareboot with caution or else have some sharp light traction.
Also some significant patches of soft ice between the upper ledges on the Dickey side. Some ice to contend with in stepping off the last ledge (the step stone is still hidden under thick ice). After that, virtually snow free all the way down the lower Dickey side and not much mud.
Beautiful weather with blue skies, minimal wind, and temperatures in the 60s. Plenty of snow visible on the south slide of Tripyramid and the above-treeline peaks. |
