Comments
Comments: We did the road walk to the Fire Road since we weren't sure about the water crossing. When we crossed Downe's Brook (while on the road) We thought it looked pretty tame so that's why we went back that way. Trail is all snow, some postholing if you get off what we assume is a monorail under the snow. It was a little soft and loose so we used the spikes, though even then we were slipping in some spots. When we got up past the first open ledge and onto the next ledges the snow and ice were very soft and starting to slide off the rock, due to water running on the rock underneath the ice. It was OK today but that one ledge that slants downhill will be difficult until the water stops running. Not bad after that, just had to pay attention on the way down. Views were stunning!
