Comments
Comments: There was a snowshoe track the entire distance. Some snow had drifted in to fill the trench in spots exposed to the wind. Minor divots in the track from a bare booter didn't cause any difficulties. No sign for the summit of Mt Whiteface as it is in the Wilderness Area. The small summit cairn was buried below the snow. Hiked all the way to the junction with the Kate Sleeper Trail to ensure that the summit was reached. The Tom Wiggins and Kate Sleeper trails had no recent activity. No problem with icy surfaces today. Some views from outlooks along the rim of the Bowl. No views at the summit (treed peak). Lots of snow on the evergreen boughs which unloaded upon being disturbed. A small number of hikers out today on Whiteface and/or Passaconaway.
