Comments
Comments: The Polecat Ski Trail was closed to skiers until we got to Upper Polecat. Snow making was in full force on the closed section so we walked on the edges of the trail and only got slightly snowed on.
The Ridge Trail had 6 to 8 inches of snow on top of a base. It was in good shape as far as trees on the trail. A few times we had to walk in the woods to avoid steep or slippery areas.
Had no trouble walking up the ski trail. In fact everyone was very friendly, skiers and employees. We hadn't heard that the new owners didn't
want hikers there until we were down. An AMC employee told our daughter that since it's in the National Forest we had every right to be there. (He has informed the owners that hikers are allowed to be there.)
