Heading up WRT from lost pond was fun. i would only take this route if you are confident in your abilities, and if not..than take 19 mile brook up the cats and take a ski slope down. WRT is in great shape from the summit of D peak all the way to the hut. From the hut up to carter dome and down to Zeta pass is very pleasant as well. from zeta pass through the rest of the carters is another story. lots of stop and going with all the blowdowns, and this is the only point of the trail currently that could justify snowshoes but its not worth huffing them in for that. until the weather changes that is. Carter dome trail down to 19 mile is solid and quick with a few blowdowns to deal with, and 19 mile is like a highway all the way to route 16. i only saw a handful of people all day but the lot was jammed and even quite a few cars on the road at 19 mile when we left. Must be lots of folks at the hut tonight. outstanding weather today. Gaia had us at 9:35. Ryan and Christina
side note: if you were in the Presis or on Frank today than you made a good life choice and i envy you. |
