Comments
Comments: Got a late but warm start to the Osceola's today. Snow was soft, then firmed with elevation, and with dropping temps through the afternoon. Greeley Ponds was in good shape, and well packed when on the rail, snow deep and soft off to the sides. Osceola Trail up to East was a luge run once it got steep, with some avoidable spots of ice. Down to the col was in decent shape, with some more icy sections, but above the Chimney (the bypass is the preferred route due to ice) the trail was a choppy mess. Snow started falling in earnest on Osceola and the winds picked up, and we attempted to smooth out the track back out to the road, as best as our two sets of snowshoes could. No real views, but it was a good workout at the very least. Great day out with Rachel.
