Trail Maintenance Notes: Two step-over bd in first mile. Boughs are intruding the trail higher up due to snowpack and snow/ice loading. Much of the lower ridge could be hard to follow in unbroken snow.

Comments
Comments: Lambert ridge trail was well packed, but soft until about 1mi. from the summit when the track stopped. When I took over breaking, I could tell that it had been broken out fairly recently, perhaps just before Christmas. Snow on top of the base was 6"-8" with higher drifts. Route finding in the upper sections was easy, but the lower sections looked harder to find, with several false starts from the first group. Ranger trail was unpacked, but looked like it had a base from recent travel; while I was out, someone headed up Ranger on skis. It did not look like anyone had been up by Daniel Doan or J-Trail, though the upper tracks could have just been covered by drifts. Snowshoes are a must for the entire trail-system.

Very nice views but too cold to relish them for long (-15 at the start). Big thank you to the group who started the breaking; I might not have ventured out alone in this kind of cold without this significant progress; I was glad I went for it..
