Comments: Ascending the ski trails to the far left, Broadway/Lower and Upper Walking Boss, I was treated to great views back into the Pemi, abundant wildflowers, AND patches of sweet wild strawberries. Don't be deterred by the brush pile obscuring the start of the herd path to Black Mt. Leaving the path I was pleased to find relatively easy travel until a thicker band just below the open summit plateau. This was my first visit to the 'new' summit and my concerns regarding the potential difficulty finding the high point amidst flat terrain and thick woods were unfounded- the canister is flaming orange, 7 feet off the ground, visible from 20 miles. On the descent I followed the herd path over toward Black Mt and down the bootleg ski trail/glade, which was slightly less steep than the ascent route.
I am working on a grid of the lower 52 NEHH, please email me if you would like to join me on hikes to any of these peaks.
