Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: i just walked right thru only once went above my knees.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: the downes brook trail could use some TLC. especially, at the top as you get closer to kate sleeper. it's kind of a jumbley mess in places that will slow you down.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: fine if your dog is up for that kind of mileage and not afraid to cross fast-moving water.
Bugs
Bugs: good grief! i'm not usually bothered by bugs if i can keep moving and will avoid using spray at all costs. but they were pretty bad today.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: nada

Comments
Comments: a great big chunk of redlining for me. the description of all the water crossings in the guidebook gave me pause, however i just resigned myself to having wet feet for most of the day and plowed right through. safer for me to do that, than to try and rock hop across, since i'm not a gymnast. at any rate, none of them were overwhelming and water levels were probably normal for this time of year. Downes Brook trail had it's fair share of things to step over, walk around, or crawl under and the hobble bush and some of the hemlock branches are creeping into the foot bed. i guess this trail doesn't get much traffic...except for moose.
