Comments
Comments: From my treasured 1946 AMC Guide "From the summit of Mt. Tecumseh the crest ridge can be followed S, without trail, to Welch Mtn. (I have deleted the 'whack to Sosman here) ... to a partly cleared surveyor's line. Follow this over Green Mtn (wooded) thence to an open summit with a fine view (probably Stone Mtn) then over open ledges to Dickey Mtn." Ron and I went the reverse, headed North. There is now a fine bootleg trail to Dickey to Foss (the fine view) and then to Green Mtn. The 'whack from Green Mtn to Sosman starts in easy woods but gets pretty nasty by the time you get to the col and doesn't let up much from there to Sosman. We found a couple of surveyor's tapes but no partly cleared line, obviously. However, post-holing the 4 inches of frozen wet snow was the real workout. And typical for a late Fall hike, saw nothing but gray from the ridge but blue sky and fine views by the time we got down the Tecumseh trail to the ski trail.
