| Dog-Related Notes: |
No water along the upper part of this trail - last water heading up on this route is stream crossing about 2 miles up Slippery brook (3 miles from trailhead); other than a few seeps on far side of north baldface there is no water until well down Bicknell ridge; a stretch of about 5+ miles; there are three steep ledges heading up and a steep descent heading down north baldface that may be difficult for some canines. There is a lot of walking on granite so keep an eye of the paws! |

One of favorite hikes in the whites. Trails are all in great shape. Slippery brook/baldface knob makes a nice alternative to the steep ledges on baldface circle trail above the shelter and you get the great views from Baldface Knob. These peaks provide 360 views along with miles of open ridge walking. Seems like more people are discovering this great hike, saw the most people I've ever seen on these trails - about 30. For those wanting to explore the area the hike can be a bit strenuous - several steep ledges heading up and down along with 3600 feet of elevation gain. |
