Comments: Got an early start to a bushwhack of Vose Spur and Mount Carrigain with a friend today. We started the bushwhack from Carrigain Notch Trail, 50' after the Bushwhack Boulder (standard route). The herdpath was easy to follow for the most part (there was also still some orange blazing tape), though there was a portion of the lower part where the path got obscured by moss-covered talus. The cairns on the open talus field were obvious and the herdpath on the upper portion was also easy to follow.

We then bushwhacked to the col between Vose Spur and the eastern ridge of Carrigain. It was moderately dense and steep, but it was easy to pick out the talus field on the eastern side of Carrigain and aim for it. Above the talus field the trees became much more dense and difficult at times. The eastern face of the ridge climbed very steeply, there were times when we were climbing trees more than the ground. Once we got to the top of the ridge the going was much easier as the elevation was easy and there was a faint herdpath to the lookout tower.

We took a break at the lookout tower and then headed down Signal Ridge Trail to the parking lot. We saw a few groups as we hiked out but it was quieter than one would expect based on the cars in the parking lot. It was a beautiful day and as always I will be posting a full trail report with photos and videos on my blog in due time.
