Comments: I bring greetings to Zach Porter from East and Middle Scar ridge.

We tried to stay on the North side of the ridge all day. That served us well. Bad brush on the last 1/4 mile ascending East from East pond trail. Pretty decent walking between East and Middle until we erred and got up on the last bump before Middle. Again - bad brush and blowdowns. Slow walking. But we worked our way back to the North side of the ridge and were able to move along again. We decided that we would descend to the col between Middle and West then decide there to bail or continue to West. The going wasn't that awful so we continued to West encountering an unexpected canister on a blowdown labelled "Scar Ridge" along the way. To descend we followed a due magnetic South compass bearing to take us down into the drainage enclosing Little East Pond. The brush and blowdowns on this leg of the trip were positively awful. So happy to see Little East Pond and a TRAIL!!! We were glad we chose to continue to West - to have paid the price of traveling through that brush and not get West would have been hard.

I am most grateful to Larry Y. for accompanying me. A wonderful person and a truly great trail (and 'whack) companion.
