| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We set one car at the north end of Carter Notch Road (slightly rutted / muddy.. not bad) and our second car at the Bald Land Trailhead. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Several brook crossings today. Most were rock hoppable, but a couple were tricky and we just had to suck it up and step on rocks with water pillows. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
For such a remote area, we were pleasantly surprised with how well the trail is maintained, and how easy it was to follow. Maybe it's because it hasn't "leafed" out yet? |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Lots of water and mud... and Chloe had quite the time! |
|
| Bugs: |
Not yet. |

| Comments: |
This 14 mile loop had a little bit of everything. Roots and rock; mud and dry trail; marsh, birch groves, and spruce forest; woods road, old trails, railroad grade and uneven grade. The views and area around the Perkins Notch tentsite was lovely... but I was glad the bugs weren't out as this is a marshy area. It was enjoyable to visit a lightly used area... very pleasant.
Fun day out redlining with Karen R., Sandy P., John M. & Chloe. |
