Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing on Dicey's Mill Tr. done fairly easily by using the large tree that has been there for a while.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns throughout; none that are causing any rerouting.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Believe I saw only one today; Isis enjoying a beautiful day with Rachel. As mentioned in her report the ledges may be too much; especially if icy; good call changing plans and keeping your day enjoyable for both of you. Also the spots on Rollins Tr. that have a 20'-30' drop right at edge of trail were icy and I wouldn't have felt comfortable having my dogs there as well.
Bugs
Bugs: There were some out.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a Columbia fleece on my way down Dicey's Mill; picked it up and left it under cover at the trail head at kiosk. Believe it belongs to a Dartmouth group that was 1/2 mile ahead of me. Hoped to catch them but didn't. Hopefully a Dartmouth connection will see this report and figure out the owner if they want it.

Comments
Comments: Used a combination of bare boots, rock spikes and sharper spikes today. More aggressive traction would have sped things up in spots but the ice was soft enough to be manageable. Majority of hikers in Kahtoola microspikes today. Carried snowshoes; did not need. Only section that was not firmly packed was the spur trail to the lookout on Passaconaway. At least 10 had gone down Blueberry Ledge Tr. so doable with care today. Nice chatting with Ken & Karen (doing some redlining), Rachel & Issis and others along the way. In my opinion you definitely will want some sort of traction and if ice hardens with lower temps aggressive traction at that.
