Comments
Comments: Blueberry Ledge Trail down low a mix of ice and rock. The warm temps have made the ice soft enough to get a good grip with micropsikes/Hillsounds. Higher up, there is more packed snow than down low, making travel easier. The ledges area mix of ice and snow, but are bare in some spots. We were able to use microspikes/Hillsounds without any problems to ascend the ledges. The Rollins Trail was mostly packed snow, but did have some sections with small ice bulges and ribbons on ice. The worst sections can be detoured around in the woods - we were not the first group to do so. The ascent up to Passaconaway was a mix of packed snow and bare ice in spots. The final ledges were a little tricky but there were several choices for ascending/descending. The upper portion of Dicey's Mill Trail was packed powder/icy, but a reasonably quick hike down to the stream crossing. Between the stream crossing and Ferncroft road, was a mixed bag of trail conditions - patches of packed snow, ice, breakable ice, water, soggy leaves, mud, bare rocks - just about everything, well, except dry trail.

Overall, the whole hike was much easier than we expected, being able to wear microspikes/Hillsounds almost from car to car. Beautiful sunshiny day out with Schorman and Wild Bill. Nice to see and chat with HikingGuy and Tom, plus Mitch and Barb.
