| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Only half a dozen at 8 am. I heard from others that later the lot was nearly full. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Spring Snow, Slush |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
There is still a nice log to cross the brook on Dicey's Mill Tr. All other crossings were minor. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One step over on Blueberry Ledge and a duck under on Dicey's near the summit. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
It was a relatively easy hike for Marlie. The ledges may prove difficult for some dogs and I gave Marlie a boost in one spot. Most of the ice was covered in snow. Good for dogs, not so much for humans. |

| Comments: |
I spent most of the week pondering whether we should attempt the ledges or not. Of course a report from Saturday would show up after I finished the hike on Sunday. I wore microspikes right from the car until the south ledges, then snowshoes across Rollins and up and down Dicey's to the brook crossing. I then wore microspikes the rest of the way. I was the only one wearing snowshoes. Blueberry Ledge is choppy, Rollins is packed powder, and Dicey's is well packed. It looked like someone had come up to Whiteface from Kate Sleeper Tr and a man that I met on the ledges was headed to East Sleeper. I also heard someone had come up Passaconaway from the Kanc. Great day out with some spring like weather.
