Followed a barebooters tracks all day. Twenty minutes in I switched to snowshoes for better traction. On the ascent I made the mistake of not taking the new re-route around the Irene washout, resulting in a steep sidehill bushwhack around the washout, something I didn't repeat on the descent. For the most part there was enough snow for snowshoes, however, it got a little bony in the steep sections along the falls and again on the climb to the peak itself. The ground still wasn't frozen so the soft spots between the top of the cascades and the ponds are a little tender. |
