Comments
Comments: Grand day in the mountains and we saw No One all day! Started at end of Jericho Road and headed up Rocky Branch Trail. After checking out the Shelter & tent sites we turned left on Stairs Col Trail and had a good hike upto the Davis Path (thank you trail adopter for recent work on Stairs Col Trail.) Checked out short herd path to good ledge view on first step. Turned right on spur path to Stairs'summit (there is one of those tentsite/camping signs pointing the way, along with a sort of hidden Stairs Mountain sign)and its southern ledges. We enjoyed magnificant views, we stared at Resolutions and decided we'd hit its NE high point that is recognized on our maps. If we only knew how scratchy and buggy the bushwhack would be maybe we would have skipped it! Great views again, still some snow to be seen in Oaks Gulf. Herd Path to South Summit knob, marked as 3250' on older maps was well worth the extra few tenths for another terrific summit; path looks like a water bar drainage and I bet most walk right on past it. There should be a sign for it. We could see many mountains and spent a lot of time picking them out. Mount Parker Trail has some faded yellow blazes and a few blowdowns along the way. Langdon Trail has well defined footbed through the logging road area. Back at the end of Jericho Road we soaked our feet in the Rocky Branch;water so cold we didn't swim. Super fun day
