Mount Success, the Outlook , 1954 DC3 Plane Crash Site
This morning we went over Mount Success to the plane crash site and back. On the way up we swung by the Outlook but we were in the clouds. Professional trail crews had been through and cut away the big blowdowns, Larry was out there clearning water bars and clipping. Put on raingear for herdpath/bushwhack to plane crash site. Herd path is on East side of Mahoosuc Trail, south of the summit not far after the last bog bridges, follow yellow blazes of AT cooridor South and you'll run right into it. As we were leaving a young man showed up at crash site and seemed surprised to see us. Skies were clearing as we returned to Success' summit, yeah! We did the Outlook loop one more time and we were sure glad we did because the clouds had lifted. We ate lunch and took in the big vista that included downtown Berlin all the way to Mount Washington. |
