Comments
Comments: There has not been a posting for W/P lately therefor this update. Besides this was likely my last ascent for a while so a final chance for a swipe at these two. Blueberry Ledge a pleasure - firm, smooth, trace of new snow with minor drifts. I barebooted to the steeps then snowshoes the rest of the way for traction and televators. The ledges are covered with styrofoam and as easy as they can be. Rollins is Rollins - drifted over, many bendovers/crawlunders, blowdowns, face slappers. Snowshoes a must. And hard to follow because it has so many right angle (even 180 deg.) turns for no apparent reason except to drop down/climb up a ledge. I do not want to be perceived as criticizing the WODC. They do the best they can with what they inherited. If I should go to Hell in my afterlife, and I'm pretty sure of it, I know I will meet Mr. Rollins there; he and I can duke it out. Dicey Tread Mill - A magnet for bare booters. Good up high but from a ways above the stream crossing to the TH very rough and full of postholes in the firm snow which you cannot see due to the couple inches of new snow and drifts. I wore my 'shoes down to the crossing where I took them off after a couple of near ankle twisters. I stepped in many a hole - in the end not sure which is better - 'shoes or BB.

Today I finally understood why there is no mileage on the trail signs up high on W/P. It's a Wilderness! Same reason there is no summit sign on Owl's Head. I always thought WODC (or the Forest Service) had some philosophical or practical problem with mileage on the signs there.

What are the requirements for at least an Associate Membership in the Fellowship of the Tortoise? Has me written all over it.
