Started up 19 Mile Brook Tr which was well packed out, but snowshoes are still advisable. The Wildcat Ridge Tr was not packed out from the snowfall last night. So I went through 3-5 inches of loose snow and drifts. Unfortunately, I ended up losing the trail at some point, so I bushwacked up the mountain in knee-to-waist deep snow over steep terrain. If you are familiar with the Wildcat Ridge Tr (I was not on the Carter Notch side), then do not follow the random prints that go off into the woods. I ended up going north of the trail and hooked back up just below the summit of A peak. Myself, and a group of 5 skiers going the opposite way broke out the trail between A peak and D peak. The skiers said they were planning on going down a slide and eventually end up at Carter Hut. |
