| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |

|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There's a mix of visible blazes, faded blazes and metal markers most of the way. However once out in the open areas maybe .25 mile below the summit I didn't notice anything marking the trail and actually lost it for a small stretch (if you ascend here in the next couple of days and see a split of snowshoe tracks the actual trail is to the right). Near the summit blazes were again visible. |

Just as I got to Long Pond Road it was being plowed by the loggers so I barebooted to the Blueberry Mountain trailhead proper. I was the first - and only - person on this trail since yesterday's snow so I broke it out: maybe 4-8" on the lower portion and 8-12" or so once the trail opened up higher. Since drifts pretty well covered the trail on the upper portion it was a guessing game where exactly the trail was under foot: I guessed right most of the time but did 'fall off' here and there.
Morning clouds gave way to some sun and blue skies in the afternoon making for many good pics under both conditions. There weere lots of tracks on and near the summit but I didn't see their makers. It was a little surprising to not see anyone else on this fine mountain but that was OK by me. |
