Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: BRING A SAW! It is saw season folks, if you own one and can only cut one blow down out of the frozen snow, thank you! Mine will be on board for the remainder. The heavy snow, then rain with wind did a number on the pine trees. Poor things. I hugged as many as I could.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Kali enjoyed the hike, she is quite the trail dog. I kept her out of site and we scooted across Wildcat D.

Comments
Comments: Dan and I headed for Moriah the hard way. This was (finally) our 48th peak together. Great conditions for the climb up Wildcat E and across, no issues with Hal's slide coming down A. Up the dome I was happy to be going up, the way down looked quick and dangerous. Breakable crust snow mixed with wet stuff in the sun. Across the Carters and DOWN North Carter! I turned into a blubbering idiot for one stretch but was able to pull it back together, this trail is not for the faint of heart! The section from North Carter to Moriah Brook Trail, was a blow down mess, intermingled with open water post holes. Nothing but work. We made it to Moriah in the dark. What a treat! The views were perfect, we could see Shawnee Peak in Bridgton and the Gorham/Berlin lights. Down we went from there, Stony Brook isn't in awful shape, comparatively but it wasn't a cake walk, like I said above, it is saw season folks. Thank you Dan, for another great hike for the books. If you will ever hike long hikes with me again, really it wasn't that bad.
