| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Success Pond Road open - dusty and a bit bumpy. I parked at the fork in the road .2 miles above Success Pond Road, however I should have driven all the way up to the end of it (about .5 miles - big field, road in okay shape). |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Minor and easily hopped |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Hard working AMC trail crew came through this entire section of trail and cleaned it up today. Haven't seen so many mullets and mohawks since I was a Merle Haggard groupie. Big pile of boards recently dropped above Success Trail - I hope they use them on the wicked muddy section of that trail! |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Some scrambles on the Mahoosuc Trail that may cause issues for some dogs. |
| Bugs: |
Deer flies, black flies, and mosquitoes down low, though generally not a problem if you kept moving. 1 less deer fly to bother you, courtesy my left hand. Some swarms of flies up high, but no bothersome bugs at any of the viewpoints. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found an old DC-3 airplane near the summit. If you can describe it, it's yours. |

| Comments: |
Success Trail was in pretty good shape until the flats above the Outlook junction. The slabs were all dry. In the flats above the Outlook junction, there was a very long stretch of mud with some makeshift bogwalks that really weren't too helpful (poles did help). Slow going through here. Two small patches of snow near the AT corridor cut. Mahoosuc Trail to the summit was in decent shape and scramble ledges were dry. |
