Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies were bad on both summits (only times I stopped)
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I lost a treaking pole. I may have left it at the canister on East, but it is more likely that I put it down to scamble down some cliffs (on East). If I thought it was more likely at the canister, I would have gone back for it.

Comments
Comments: Trails are in really good shape. I headed up East from just past the wilderness boundary on Cedar brook. I hit some pretty thick spots and a good amount of blowdowns. This peak was harder than I expected. In the register someone made reference to coming up cliffs. On the decent, I found them inadvertently. I was able to find safe ways to scramble down some very steep stuff. It was not as thick on the way down. I hit the trail just a little bit north of where I went off.

I was sure to walk quite a ways before heading for North. There were good views of North, East, and the col from the trail. I got to a spot about 1.5 from the Wilderness Trail junction, where I deemed the peak to be due west. I headed up through steep but never very thick woods. I was surprised by how open things remained (however, in register entries folks reported otherwise). There is lots of blowdown, but it is mostly low, step-over stuff. There is a piece of radio equipment and a helicopter pad near this summit. The helipad offered good views of Franconias, Owl’s Head, Garfield, and the main peak of Mt. Hitchcock.

I headed down through similar woods hitting the trail intentionally north of my start. I then walked about a mile to the Wilderness/East side trail junction and made the long walk back to the Kanc. There are some cool railroad artifacts on the Cedar brook tr.
