Fine afternoon for the Cats. Looped "up the river, across the ridge, and down the valley" on this non-routine wildcat loop. The River trail is an easier go than expected, only a few minor mud issues, crossings were no problem. Skipped the crossings on Bog Brook trail by using the forest road. Ridge trail was quick work with no problems over to D peak where the views were fantastic from the tower. Dropped off the backside of D onto the blue diamond marked Valley trail where the top was muddy as expected, but manageable. Lots of moss. Once gaining the ridge it was dry down to the birches. Birch glade was no problem as the undergrowth is just starting to grow there. Another couple weeks I'd be wading around waist deep (like last time down.) Once at Hall Ledge trail you navigate through the XC trails at prospect farm back to the trailhead. |
