Comments
Comments: Ran into snow about 2,500'. Snow very unstable, often breaking thru, with snowbridges constantly failing. Put shoes on/off several times until the end of beginning of the "whack" up Nancy itself. Very little snow on the herd path. Leave snowshoes at camp area, but bring microspikes, especially for descent.

On the return, my boots were so wet I just said to hell with the snowshoes and headed down. Al put his 'shoes on, as much for traction as anything.

Unless you desperately "need" Nancy in the near future, pick another peak and let the snow melt out for a couple of weeks. This area is wetter than the Hancocks (if that's possible) and many of the plank/bog bridges were underwater. Overall, a rather miserable hike on a beautiful day. The high point were the Cascades - just roaring.
