| Comments: |
Boot broken and frozen down low where light traction is the choice, conditions improve for snowshoeing as altitude increases. Just above the last of the lower, open, ledges(low slope) the snowshoeing became very good for the remainder of the route. Plenty of snow still adhering well to the upper (steep) ledges making them easily negotiable on snowshoes - way easier than we expected. Trail is broken out well to the viewpoint above the upper ledges where the Rollin's trail begins, and broken somewhat the remainder of the way to Whiteface by five people - but could drift back in.
Took a chance on Whiteface today expecting to be turned back by icy conditions on the upper ledges due to melting yesterday, but presently surprised to find good snow conditions when we got there.
Congrats to Diane on #47 All Season and #6 on her winter list. |
