Comments
Comments: Snowshoes were ideal for this late afternoon hike. Lower Polecat has patches of mud/bare ground, Middle + Upper Polecat are entirely snow covered. Bushwhacked from 2nd to last turn on Upper Polecat up to Wildcat Ridge to save us from having to climb D Peak twice. The Wildcat Ridge trail itself is in surprisingly decent shape. A bit tough to follow in places (due to blowdowns), and still tons of snow/some branches in your face, but snowshoes worked perfectly to keep us from postholing. Beautiful views from the ledge off A Peak. Unfortunately, we missed the sunset (which turned out to be phenomenal from Route 2) as we were making better time than expected... :). Very quick descent off from D Peak with snowshoes + lovely corn snow.
