typical civilized start for me I was surprised to see how many people headed up in the afternoon. Barebooted sidewalk like greeley ponds trail, some punch outs in yesterdays warmer weather but the surface set up nicely. Once to the uphill on Mount Osceola Trail i put on snowshoes for traction and televation and left them on back to the same spot pretty much. Mostly hardpack set up surface, some ice showing through, snowshoes were great traction for today. Next choice seemed to be crampons which seemed to be working well. Folks in spikes were much slower on the steeps for sure as they just don't grab enough. Nice trench across the slide. Once to the ridge the snow was much softer. Bypass of the bypass in a different spot but worked well. Nice job breaking that out and thank you. It was windy along the hump back and on the summit of Mount Osceola but mostly sheltered on this route. Views were great today but I apparently decided to leave my camera at home. Fast descent . Watching a mountain dog follow his butt sledding peeps was hilarious. Great day out |
