| Comments: |
Snowshoes with good traction and a lift were very useful on the steep section between Carter Notch and Wildcat A. The slide along this section of trail was steep but well-packed with snow and not slippery with traction.
Between Wildcat A and Wildcat D, there were large sections of blue ice floes on steep ascents and descents that made traction (possibly crampons) very useful. Other than that, there were no challenging issues with this trail, snow conditions are excellent but snow is light.
We chose to descend via the ski trail to change up the day, which was fast and convenient, since Polecat was closed today to skiers. We felt welcome by ski patrol and made quick time out. Overall a beautiful, warm day with expansive views. |
