Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Rocky Branch Trail is in fine shape up to Rocky Branch Shelter #1. Stairs Col Trail likewise in good shape, with a couple of step over blowdowns, and the tree hanging in the middle of the trail (which I'd heard tell of). Davis Path and the Stairs Spur were smooth sailing. Mt. Parker Trail up towards Resolution was decent, though beyond to Mt. Parker was a mess. Very brushed in, and difficult to follow in spots, with plentiful blowdowns of all varieties. The trail improved beyond the peak. Mt. Langdon Trail good up to the shelter. The sign for Mt. Stanton Trail lies (on both ends), it is not 4.5 miles to the trailhead from the shelter, nor is it 5.4 miles from the trailhead to the shelter... it's 5.2 according to the WMG. Either way, Mt. Stanton Trail was a mix of conditions, muddy, dry, badly eroded, and ledgy. Most erosion was found on descent from Mt. Stanton itself.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one canine, River, who we spent the night with at Mt. Langdon Shelter.
Bugs
Bugs: Basically nonexistent on Thursday and Friday, a few black flies buzzing around in the late morning on Saturday.

Comments
Comments: A roughly two day backpack (Thursday afternoon to Saturday afternoon) on some lesser traveled trails. Stayed Thursday night at Rocky Branch Shelter #1, though opted for a tent platform under the stars due to some shelter occupants. Hiked up to the ridge Friday, hitting Stairs, Resolution, and Parker, before meeting up with the only two people (and canine) we'd seen all day, and spending the night with them at Mt. Langdon Shelter. Saturday involved the hike out on Mt. Stanton Trail (the mileage of which appears to be in question), over Mt. Langdon, The Crippies, Mt. Pickering, and Mt. Stanton. A gorgeous couple of days to be out, welcoming the autumn.

Blog post coming in a timely fashion.
