| Water Crossing Notes: |
The parking lot for Highwater trail is closed while they replace the bridge over the Wild River, so we forded just downstream (while workers watched in amusement) but it was an easy ford. all other small crossing through out the day were easy. Ford at end of Shelburne trail was a tad deeper than we were expecting!! Didn't look around, just went straight across and it was almost waist deep!! (calm refreshing water...but slippery rocks underfoot) |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Highwater in pretty good shape (3 washouts about mile 4-5) Shelburne trail very brushy. Parts of Kenduskeag trail overgrown also. |

| Comments: |
Pleasantly surprised with Highwater trail. Very nice walking for about 4 miles, (though quite a few blow downs and they are HUGE trees to climb over/under) then around mile 4 you hit 3 separate washouts where you have to do a little searching/bushwacking for where the trail re-appears. Shelburne trail started off flat and easy, quite a few blow downs here as well, very overgrown. some flagging in one overgrown area of trail. Kenduskeag trail wet and slippery, lots of moss and overgrown blueberry bushes. |
