Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Passaconaway parking lot was about half-full at 8 AM; about the same when I got out at about 4.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All Nine of the Downes Brook crossings were a piece of cake. There's only one crossing of Oliverian Brook on the way down, and it's pretty well bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Downes Brook is a little rough near the top; some would day it's in dire need of repair, but I'd disagree:for me that mile or so was the highlight of the day. There's also a short section on the Rollins Trail descending Whiteface, where the crew has done an especially masterful job clearing up a really gnarly tangle of big blowdowns. I'm thankful for their dedication and hard work!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any. It might be a long, dry haul from the last Downes Brook crossing (there are nine; count 'em!) to Oliverian Brook.
Bugs
Bugs: Nothing worth whining about.
