No other vehicles at Rattle River when we spotted a car, none on our return. Conner Brook Road is passable in a regular passenger car at this time, though it is a bit snowy and icy. No other cars at this trailhead either. |

All easy hops today, ice bridges starting to form. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Shelburne Trail in great shape all the way up to the height of land, though growth seems to be encroaching on the trail, and it may be difficult to follow under regular season conditions. A couple of nuisance blowdowns on Kenduskeag, also the eastern portion of Kenduskeag is very brushy in spots and could use some attention. Rattle River Trail in great shape, nice rock work coming down off the ridge, and a few blowdowns to negotiate. |

Mike lost his EMS liner gloves somewhere between Rattle River Shelter and the Rattle River Trailhead. |

A great day to get out, do some redlining, and hit some peaks. Shelburne Trail went quickly, thanks to a "longer than I thought it was going to be" road walk portion of the trail.
Kenduskeag Trail was undulating and steep at times, with many many ice flows. Shelburne Moriah is a fantastic peak, and definitely worth a return trip. The clouds had come in, but views were still very strong from Moriah. Rattle River Trail was great, it loses a lot of elevation quickly, and then becomes a nice moderate descent to the shelter, and down to the road. We nearly managed to make it out without headlamps, but one crossing about 0.6 from the road had me sketched out, so I turned it on. Thanks to Mike for another great one! |
