Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Stream crossings along Downes Brook were good today. I would take the advice of the guidebook and avoid this trail during any highwater period.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A decent amount of blowdowns along Downes Brook. Most were step-over/duck-under and one was a walk-around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I heard the cheetah might be in the area and I know about cats and dogs.

Comments
Comments: Downes Brook was a pleasant trail. It was smooth going until the Passaconaway Slide. From there the trail gets rough and wet with lots of slippery rocks. The stream crossings were good and most were hoppable with one long-legged stretch to avoid soaking the boots. After the 8th or 9th crossing (can't remember which one) the trail makes a sharp right. This could be easily missed due to the blowdown that is obstructing the trail.

Kate Sleeper was in decent shape along with the Rollins Trail, Dicey Mills, and Walden Trail. Square Ledge was wet in areas and care was taken not to tumble in spots. Passaconaway Cut-Off was wet up high with some very muddy spots. The beavers have a good thing going along the Oliverian Brook Trail. All in all it was a good day. Saw 4 people the whole day until I got close to the Kanc and those are always the best days. No sign of the cheetah and I was a little disappointed. He must have headed over to Tecumseh because that is where I hear all the dogs hang out.
