Comments: Nate and I decided to do this as a shakedown of our backpack setups. I haven't overnighted outdoors in a very long time, so we broke this side in to two days. With an early start it could easily be a rather long dayhike. Plenty of water sources to choose from. We were going to camp at Slide but pushed on to Bull Run, which was a great decision. Luxurious backcountry campsite with an insane amount of work put in to it. Stairs on both side of the creek, beautiful, great tasting water source. Bombproof bear box too.

Overall I can't say enough good things about this trail system. MATC has put in a ridiculous amount of work and it shows. From elevated bridges, to signage, to campsites. The trail is never really hard except in the ascending section between Bald Mtn. and Sargeant Brook campsite. We were going to detour to Mahoosuc Arm for the views but it was so hazy on day two that we bagged it. Met some Nobo thru hikers coming off Old Speck. I was in awe of their pace. Next time I'd do the whole loop in 2 1/2 days.
