This was my first time using the bemis stream trail and was impressed overall. The trailhead was a little confusing to find, but once I figured it out it was smooth sailing. If you get to the atv junction for bemis mtn trail, turn around and just past a small bridge over bemis stream, the trail will be near a large clearing with an old logging rd heading west. Blue blazes but no trail sign. The trail is the old AT and parallels bemis ridge that the AT is on now. Very cool forest/ moose bogs with some views of the ridge above you. I saw a moose at a distance just before the last climb up to the ridge. At the AT junction there is a few tent spaces. Clouds came in as I was hitting the ridge, so no views up high, but fun trail up to Bemis summit. |
