This was a great wilderness hike. Road to actually trailhead which is the beginning of the atv trail is no longer accessible driving too.... bridge over stream is gone and boulders are blocking road. Atv trail is easy hiking.... trail then turns into a stream bed which has a few blowdowns to maneuver around. At a rock cairn you take a right and follow grassy/overgrown old road for about 0.6 miles until another rock cairn... that essentially puts you on the Snow Mountain trail. This is a rugged trail with everything that comes with a classic straight up ( no switchbacks ) trail to a rocky ledge with great views right before the summit. At the summit there is an old tower ( no cabin ) that you can climb up for 360 views. It was pretty cold up there. Really loved this hike. 3.4 mile hike to the summit with over 2000ft of ascent. |
