Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Definitely a few wonky sections of the AT out there in the winter puckerbrush where additional blazes would help. A decent amount of blowdowns but nothing too big.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Probably not a great idea on ski trails.
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Tommy lost a glove liner. If you know him, this is not surprising.
Comments: Well, we tried to do it the right way. Got our uphill passes. Got a ski trail map and made sure we stuck to the uphill route. Asked several times, several different ways about people we know getting pulled off the mountain, and were told it’s mostly people on the wrong trails. The wind shouldn’t be a problem. To be even more careful we changed to today knowing there would be even less wind. So it was pretty disappointing to be told .2 below the top that the summit was closed due to wind and we had to go down. It was maybe blowing 20-25mph. Understand ski patrol was just doing their job. We went back and forth a few times from a distance. Eventually she said she had told us it was closed and had done her job. So it seemed as if we weren’t going to get tased for heading up into conditions that we hike in on a daily basis. It would have sucked if we got forced down, right at the top, but if ski patrol hadn’t backed down we would have wasted our day.

Really nice day for Spaulding & Sugarloaf, minus the near turnaround. Proceed with caution I guess?

Definitely need to wear snowshoes on the ski trails, other than that spikes would have been fine but we kept the shoes on all day.
