Comments: Did a big loop starting at the golf course, through the woods to the CVR. CVR was packed and I barebooted. Ran into another hiker heading to Crockers and Redington. He had opted for snowshoes. I switched to snowshoes when I veered off the CVR for the Abraham Slide Trail. Another hiker did this route last weekend and I felt like it was a better option that trying to go up the AT and having to cross the river right off CVR. Abraham slide was unconsolidated and lots of powder. I follow the tracks of the previous hiker and go to the AT quickly. The AT from the lean to Spaulding then to Sugarloaf was mixed. Some areas were firm, others any signs of tracks had been blown in I had to figure out where the trail was, some heavy snow on trees in spots and some blowdowns that required crawling under. I ran into a hiker working on his NE111 and he had come up the ski trails and was doing an out and back to Spaulding. I opted to hike down the ski trails again to avoid the uncertainty of the river crossing on the AT. I underestimated the elevation gain on the 2 mile road walk back from the base of Sugarloaf to the golf course - prob should have jumped in a shuttle bus. These peaks made my #64 and 65 for my winter 67!
