Comments
Comments: A zig zag hike covering a few of my favorite trails. Point to point from the Parkman Trailhead to Jordan Pond: Parkman Mountain Trail - Carriage Road - Sargent Northwest - Sargent South Ridge - Deer Brook - Carriage Road about 6.5 miles in total. Trails were largely dry, Parkman Mountain trail to summit has a few small scrambles and has a small relocation to allow some trail work. From the summit I opted to continue on the Parkman mountain trail to where it crossed the Carriage road and walked about a mile to the Northwest trail which is one of my favorite routes Up Sargent - it is lightly traveled and quickly gets up to open ledges and is never steep. There were a few spots here of mud and some slippery rock before breaking out on the ledges. From the summit headed down the south ridge trail to connect with the Deer brook trail, again just a few spots of mud along the way. Took Deer brook down to the Carriage road and rather going down to the Pond which is generally quite crowded took a right turn on the Carriage road and took this to Jordan pond house. Weather was perfect and sunny and was a bit surprised that there weren't more people out. Ran across maybe 20 people between the trailhead and Jordan pond house. Grabbed a root beer and caught the island explorer back to town. Love the island explorer because it allos point to point hikes like this!
