| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Medium sized lot off route 113 has an outhouse but no fee box. Five vehicles in lot on arrival with many more open spots to park at 1:30PM. Route 113 is a narrow two-lane highway through Evans Notch that demands attention to the road. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The lowest crossing of Morrison Brook is easiest just upstream of the marked crossing. Today, the water level was low enough that there were dry rock tops to hop on. All other crossings were even easier. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I sawed some small limbs off from several toppled trees on the trails. However, there are many treefalls on the Mud Brook Trail with many of a sizeable diameter. An ax or large saw will be required for a lot of these trees. Not too hard to go over, under, or around. The swarming bugs discourage long trail maintenance stops. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Fine for dogs. Lots of water. |
|
| Bugs: |
Lots of black flies that were bothersome. |

| Comments: |
There was only a stretch of about 6' of snow on the Mud Brook Trail between Caribou Trail and the summit. Most of the trail is dry although there are small mud spots that usually have steppingstones. I was surprised there were so many blowdowns on the Mud Brook Trail.
Saw Painted Trillium, Red Trillium, Yellow Violets, and Hobblebush flowers.
Kees falls and another waterfall upstream were nice.
Great views from the summit and some of the ledges.
Met five other hikers who were all from Maine. |
