Just a post to let anyone interested in hiking Loop Trail to know that it is still impassable. Fat Man's Misery still has an 8 to 10 foot wall of frozen snow leading to it, which maybe crampons and ice axe would make doable, but I suspected it was plugged, so I didn't attempt. Hiked back down, hiked back to Brook Trail, took Ridge Trail to sag, then climbed down to the exit of the fissure and yes, it was plugged solid. Going to be really warm this week, so maybe next weekend, but I suspect maybe the week after that before it's safely passable. Just an FYI. |
